🎉Now published on both IOS and Steam with Overwhelmingly Positive reviews!🎉
An isometric stealth-comedy game about cleaning messes and fighting your own instincts. The WereCleaner is created under the Advanced Games Projects program @USC Games. Up to November 2024, we have achieved over 900,000 downloads across IOS and Steam platform! The WereCleaner won the Audience's Choice Award at the IGF in 2025.
Concept art
The WereCleaner features a collectible screen that allows the player to view all the items they have found in game. I created several concept arts for items there aren't found in-game yet.
I have created several concepts for the slider icon that appears in the settings screen. The final implemented design chosen for the game is number 5.Â
art assets
I have worked together with the lead designer on The WereCleaner team to create mini-maps for each level in the game. It features clear identification of accessible/inaccessible areas based on color differences and blockage icons. Scroll through the gallery for a full preview of all the 7 different maps.
The implemented mini-maps can be seen across in-game screens on the top left corner (circled area).
Every level has a corresponding mini-map that informs the player of their location.
I have designed and illustrated the notification bubbles appearing in-game. Each of them represents a different reaction to Kyle's action.Â
Purple: Confused (after NPC briefly saw Kyle)
Red: NPC realizes Kyle's gonna kill them
Blue: empty for time loop implementations
Yellow: Knapped by trash bag
Our art director Ena has provided the art team with a UI kit that established the guidelines for artstyles. The colors are picked from the UI kit, each representing a different emotion.Â
The assets were eventually implemented in the game and contributed to our harmonizing artstyle. Thanks to our engineering team, the bubbles also pops up in the screen in smooth motion! The image carousel on the right displays some moments that these pop-ups appear.
The WereCleaner features 4 cutscene animations created by our awesome art team. I was in charge of designing the casettes that links to the cutscenes on the collectible menu.
A playback of the whole illustration process of the 4 different colors of the casette tapes. Text content is provided by our lead narrative, Samuel, and the colors were color-corrected by our art director, Ena. Completed in Procreate under 30 minutes.
Individual Screens
I have illustrated and exported assets for the entire settings screen for The WereCleaner. This screen features designs that correspond to the art guide (e.g. the paw icon slider)
Scroll left for a previous version of the settings screen (also created by me).
The credits screen in The WereCleaner features a bulletin-board-like design that ties in with the office/detective theme. I have created drafts of the variations first to ensure connectable repetitions, then translated the draft into a mock-up for the final design.
